Fibre just got a serious upgrade!

From June 2025 onwards, many fibre broadband customers have started to enjoy faster speeds at no extra cost, thanks to a nationwide upgrade by Chorus, the company behind our fibre network.

If you’re on a WiFiConnect fibre lite or fibre standard plan, you don’t need to lift a finger. The Big Fibre Boost is being rolled out in the background, and it means faster downloads and smoother streaming.

What’s changing?

Chorus is upgrading selected fibre plans to deliver more speed with the same great reliability.

If you're on:

Fibre Lite → upgraded to 100/20 Mbps
Fibre Standard → boosted to 500/100 Mbps
Fibre Faster → already on highest speed plan

These changes make your connection more powerful for busy households, especially when everyone’s online at once, whether it's streaming, gaming, working, or all three.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything to get the new speeds?

Nope! The upgrade is automatic. If you’re on an eligible fibre plan, you’ll soon start seeing faster speeds without needing to change your plan or settings. We’ll let you know if anything else is required.

I’m not seeing faster speeds, what should I do?

From June 2025 onwards Chorus is rolling the boost out in batches to ensure a smooth transition for everyone, so just hold tight - it will come. If you are on our fibre faster plan, nothing changes, you are already enjoying the highest available performance.

Why am I not getting the upgraded speeds?

The Big Fibre Boost only applies to our fibre lite and fibre standard plans delivered over the Chorus network. If you’re on our Rural Wireless or fibre faster plans, the upgrade does not apply.

Why now?

We’re seeing more connected devices, more 4K streaming, bigger software updates, and a shift toward cloud-based gaming and work. In fact, average monthly internet usage rose by 8% in 2023, and peak usage is up 23%. By boosting speeds now, Chorus is future-proofing your internet for what comes next, and making sure you’re ready.
